Princess Aurora is the main character in the animated film “Sleeping Beauty,” produced by Walt Disney Pictures in 1959. She is inspired by the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm.

Aurora is the daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leah. At her birth, she is cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent, who predicts that Aurora will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel before her sixteenth birthday and fall into a deep sleep from which she can only be awakened by a prince’s kiss. To protect her, the three good fairies — Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather — secretly raise her in a cottage deep in the forest under the name Briar Rose.

Aurora is known for her beauty, grace, and gentle voice. In the film, she meets and falls in love with Prince Phillip, who ultimately saves her by breaking Maleficent’s curse. Aurora is also one of the most iconic Disney princesses, recognizable by her gown, which changes color between pink and blue, and her blonde hair.
